Hi ~ I found your website from wordpress. I don’t know php or any language, but was trying to help out with the innerhealth.us blog.

I was trying to add the “hubpage widget” which I do have the code for, into the sidebar. I was able to add a link - but it just says Hubpage with a url to the website that does open in a blank page.

Would you mind directing me to info on how to just pop in that widget instead of the link?

Eric - no. CSS doesn’t handle “scripting” - which is what you’re looking for. You want jQuery or AJAX or Javascript (my personal preference is jQuery…) but CSS won’ do it alone. It’s not a scripting language.

If you mean in the stylesheet, it’s the “Universal reset”. The “*” is a wildcard. Browsers each have their own default settings when it comes to margins, padding, borders, etc. By placing that in the stylesheet, you basically reset ALL browsers to have 0 margin, 0 padding, 0 borders, etc. so that you can start from an equal playing field with everything.

When you validate your site, it generally tells you what lines the error appears at. You’ll need some kind of text editor that counts lines for you so you can find it. Alternatively, if you just copy the lines it shows you (it’ll tell you the beginning part of the line where the error is) and search for that, it’ll take you right to it.

This tutorial *does* do that - if the content is shorter than the height of the screen, the footer will remain at the bottom of the browser window. However if the content is longer than the height of the screen, the footer will remain at the bottom of the content area.

If your isn’t doing that, then you’ve done something different. Without seeing your code, I can’t tell you what that is. But I know that my tutorial still stands as you see it here - I’ve just used it on 3 client sites in the past 4 months, and all are doing exactly what you’re asking for.

Actually, it’s Japanese. Of course it *is* Kanji - which is probably why your Chinese friend can pronounce it (it’s my understanding that Chinese characters and Japanese Kanji are very similar, although not quite the same all the time).

But anyway, it’s the Japanese word “aneko” which means “big sister” or “older sister” (this where I got the name of this site )

I’ve recently created a WordPress Theme for my site but I found you tutorial much easier to follow and understand than the one I originally used.

I will be keeping this bookmarked for any further WordPress themes I need to implement and I’m sure it will save me a lot of time next time round.

What I’d like to know is why certain things (like The Loop) only seem to work the way the docs explain when they’re in the index.php file.

Someone should write a book on designing WordPress sites FOR DEVELOPERS.
