Tutorial: Realistic Photographs

Create a New Layer.

Emulating the last step, swap it to the bottom left corner, and change the gradient from dark gray to white, and the “top right” corner to the “bottom left”. Flood fill, and set the layer to 55% opacity.

And there you have it - a lovely “photograph” that looks like you could lift it right off the page.

(and yes, I know those of you that are using IE6 will see a funky gray/blue background on this last image. That’s because I saved it as a PNG file to show you the pretty effect of the transparency over *any* background. Unfortunately, IE doesn’t support transparent PNGs. I can fix it, but it’ll have to wait, as I have a crying infant needing my attention at the moment!)
